From September 11th- 12th, people in Bristol are opening their doors showcasing ways they have made their homes more comfortable to live in, more energy efficient and cheaper to run.
Many of our homes are old and few of these older homes are energy smart. Retrofitting measures such as draught-proofing and insulation, and the use of new technologies such as solar PV, can help make our homes fit for the future.
Numerous Bristolians are improving their homes and we can all benefit from their experience. Over the weekend of September 11th and 12th you are invited to visit some of these homes and find out more about how these changes have been achieved.
Clusters of homes in various neighbourhoods will be centred around hubs such community centres or libraries. Maps and more detailed information will be available from these hubs.
Following this weekend a two month programme of events on the theme of energy efficiency in the home will take place across Bristol to help people get on and do what needs doing. The programme includes related courses, talks and practical workshops in The Architecture Centre, The CREATE centre, community centres and libraries throughout the city.
We hope you will be able to join us and help Bristol become a more sustainable city.
