About

Householders and organisations from across the city are coming together to make Bristol's homes "Fit for the Future".

As so many of our homes are old, the use of measures such as draught-proofing and insulation, and new technologies such as solar PV and smart meters are important. They make the homes energy smart, more comfortable, cleaner for the environment and cheaper to heat. Bristol Green Doors supports this "retrofitting" by allowing people to talk and listen to others who have made their homes better in this way at events and through valuable information on this website.

In September 2010 we held our first open homes weekend. Thousands of visits were made to over 50 homes open to the public. It was the largest event of its kind in the UK. and was a clear all round success. The householders who took part in our weekend event wanted to share what they had learnt with others and the case studies of many of the homes are available on this website.

Building on feedback received from 2010, in 2011 we have held two technology focussed events; Insulation Celebration in March and Solar Saturday in June. We are now planning our next major open homes event Bristol Green Doors 2012. It will be held on March 17-18th.

Bristol Green Doors are collabrating with many local and national partners to achieve this including the Energy Saving Trust which provides lots of valuable information on how to improve the energy efficiency of your home.
